nke and the Beneteau 10R

nke
and Beneteau - A Winning Combination
The nke
instrument package being offered on the Beneteau 10R is but a small part
of the complete package of nke offerings. Designed for optimal
sailing performance, the addition of the nke Gyropilot with wireless
remote and MOB transmitter will increase performance and provide vital
safety features.
nke
Gyropilot II: a hydraulic below-deck pilot with integrated gyrometer

The most
reliable power unit on the market today is from nke, with superior
hydraulic engineering that translates into reliability and rapid response
to changing conditions. Tested on the world's oceans by boats ranging
from "Mini" to "Maxi", the Gyropilot II was installed
on the winning boats in the last Mini Transat, Figaro, Around Alone, and
Vendee Globe.
The nke
hydraulic drive unit includes a reversible pump with a linear drive, attached
by 1m hydraulic lines pre-bled at the factory. The pilot is available with
an optional "True Wind / SOG Mode" for racing and heavy weather
conditions that require maximum response from the helm, which is recommended
for sailors that race offshore in surfing conditions, or shorthanded.

Gyropilot:
wireless remote control and MOB transmitter
Also optional
and exclusive to the nke system, is the wireless remote control
for the Gyropilot that combines two functions: remote control and "man
overboard" system.
Remote
control function:
Wherever the sailor is on the boat, the remote control allows the pilot
to be started, stopped, or steered. The remote consists of an extremely
light transmitter that is worn around the wrist or neck, and a receiver
connected to the nke BUS.

"Man
Over Board" System:
The solo yachtsman or the man on watch wears a transmitter that constantly
transmits an unique identification code. This code can be received only
if the transmitter is situated within a radius of about thirty meters
from the receiver. When the code ceases to be received by the system,
a pre-alarm is sounded audibly, followed by a visual notation on the nke
displays, and finally the 'man over-board' procedure is activated. The
instruments make note of where the MOB alarm was triggered, and indicate
bearing and distance.
In 'solo'
mode when the autopilot is driving the boat the autopilot will reference
the wind angle and turn the boat head to wind to give the MOB an opportunity
to return, and also to assist rescue services in finding the victim by
keeping the boat nearby.
In 'Crewed'
mode, or when the autopilot is not activated the system will only display
MOB data on the instrument displays and sound an audible alarm to warn
the other crew. Further, there are two contact relays on the receiver
that are activated in the process. One is activated immediately, and the
other after 10 minutes. These can be connected to external devices such
as a DSC radio or EPIRB to get help on the way if the MOB is unable to
return to the boat.

Other
optional nke components that 10R owners may be interested in:

Nav table
display, either a DL18 or Performance display

Wireless
remote for Multifunction Display - control the TL25 from the rail!

NMEA output
interface - for connecting a laptop for navigation and performance data

Additional
sensors include Heel angle, Barometer, GPS and Battery monitor Tactical
/ Navigation software such as nke Prodata or Optima
